The Phoenix Suns officially announced on Thursday that they have exercised the team option for the 2026-27 season in Ryan Dunn's contract. Dunn is currently in the second season of a four-year contract and is expected to receive $2.8 million in salary for the 2026-27 season.

According to previous reports, Dunn signed a four-year rookie contract with the Suns last year worth $13 million.

Dunn, 22, was the 28th overall pick in the 2024 first round and primarily plays forward. He played in 74 regular-season games for the Suns last season, averaging 6.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 19.1 minutes per game, shooting 43.0% from the field and 31.1% from three-point range.

While statistics suggest Dunn's three-point shooting still has significant room for improvement, this doesn't overshadow his defensive importance. While the departures of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal have significantly reduced the Suns' overall strength, they have also provided Dunn with further opportunities for development and growth. Under new head coach Jordan Ott, he's expected to become a crucial cog in the Suns' defense, sharing a crucial role in the frontcourt rotation alongside Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, and Royce O'Neale.
