Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur officially announced the appointment of Thomas Frank as the team's new head coach, and the two sides signed a contract until 2028.
The 51-year-old Danish coach will replace Anki Postecoglu, who was sacked earlier this month, becoming the club's fourth permanent head coach since June 2021.
Frank joined Brentford in 2016, initially as an assistant coach, and took over as head coach in October 2018. He has completely changed the club's fate in the past seven years. Not only did he lead the team to promotion to the Premier League in 2021, but he also successfully built it into a top league team with stable competitiveness.
Under Frank's leadership, Brentford reached the Championship play-offs twice and eventually defeated Swansea City in 2021 to be promoted to the Premier League, becoming the first coach to lead a team to the Premier League in 86 years. Subsequently, he led the team to 13th, 9th, 16th and 10th places in the Premier League, showing steady growth.
During his time as coach at Brentford, Frank led the team in 152 Premier League games, winning 54 games and losing 60 games, scoring a total of 200 points. In the 2023-24 season, Brentford scored 66 goals, ranking fifth in the league, reflecting its boldness and efficiency on the offensive end.
In addition to Frank, his coaching team will also join Tottenham, including assistant coach Justin Cochrane, fitness director Chris Haslam and data analyst Joe Newton. Another assistant coach Andreas Georgeson will join from Manchester United.
