According to veteran NBA reporter Evan Sidry on Sunday, the Utah Jazz are close to reaching a buyout agreement with Kevin Love. Another reporter, Sam Amiko, also revealed that the matter is expected to be finalized before the 24th of this month.

Love, 37, was the fifth overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft. He has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Miami Heat. His most well-known achievement is undoubtedly winning the 2016 NBA championship alongside LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and other stars.

In July 2025, Love was sent to the Utah Jazz in a three-team trade. However, Love preferred joining a championship-contending team over remaining with the rebuilding Jazz. With the Jazz currently building a roster centered around Ace Bailey and Lauri Markkanen, Love's role within the team became increasingly unclear.

As for Love's potential next team, there are reports that he will join the Los Angeles Clippers. If all goes well, Love can only get a veteran minimum contract with the salary-constrained Clippers.

Love played 23 regular-season games for the Heat last season, averaging 5.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in 10.9 minutes per game, shooting 35.7% from the field and 35.8% from three-point range. He has been increasingly involved in bench and locker room leadership roles in recent years, perfectly suiting the Clippers' needs.
