The Phoenix Suns have hired veteran NBA executive Edward Stefanski as a consultant to the team's front office, Marc Stein reported Friday.
As the NBA preseason gets underway, Stefanski has confirmed he will join Suns legend Steve Nash on the Senior Advisory Board. Both will draw on their extensive experience to provide guidance to first-year Suns general manager Brian Gregory and head coach Jordan Ott.
Stefanski, 71, was the 10th overall pick in the 1976 NBA draft, but ultimately made his mark on the league as an executive. Since entering NBA management in 1999, he has held positions with the New Jersey Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies, and Detroit Pistons, serving in various roles including director of scouting, general manager, vice president of basketball operations, general manager, and senior advisor.
Stefanski was also named third in the NBA's Executive of the Year in 2020 as a recognition of his longevity and influence on the league.
