Wolves young striker Mateus Mane has officially signed his first professional contract with the club after breaking into the first team under Vitor Pereira. The young player, who will turn 18 in September this year, has signed his first professional contract with Wolves this week, which is valid until 2027.  

Mateus Mane is an England youth international who has seven caps for the U18 national team. Since joining Wolves in February 2024, he has made significant progress in the club's youth academy and made his Premier League debut at the end of last season.  

The striker spent the first nine years of his childhood in his native Portugal before moving to Manchester, England, to join Rochdale FC in 2016. After eight years in the National League youth system, he chose to make the Black Country and Molineux his new home.  

Matthäus Mane initially played for the Wolves U16 and U18 teams. In the last round of the 2023-24 Premier League U18 League, he made his first start for Richard Walker's team and contributed a goal and an assist to help the team beat Derby County 3-1, showing his excellent offensive ability.  

In the past 12 months, Mateus Mane has made the leap from U18 attacking core to Premier League player. He played 15 times for the U18 team, contributed 7 goals and 4 assists, and was called up to the first team coached by Vitor Pereira for training with his outstanding performance. With his positive attitude and stable performance, he impressed the coaching staff and first-team players.  

In the final months of the 2024-25 Premier League season, Mateus Mane was included in Wolves' squad for matches against Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, and he made his first-team debut as a substitute against Brighton at Molineux in May.  

After his Premier League debut, head coach Vitor Pereira said the young striker will officially become a member of the first team next season due to his convincing potential shown in training and games last season.  

Before the start of the 2025-26 Premier League season, Mateus Mane officially signed his first professional contract, entrusting his future to Wolves. The young striker said after signing: "This is a wonderful feeling for me, my family and all my friends. I have been working hard for this day, and now my dream has come true. I am proud of myself and very happy."  

"I've worked so hard to get to this point. After all, I came from a non-league club. It's a dream come true to sign a professional contract with a Premier League club. But now that the dream has come true, I know this is just the beginning. I have to keep working hard for the next contract and get better every day."
