Leeds United announced on its official website on Wednesday that the club has extended the contract of its Wales international winger Daniel James.

According to Leeds United's official statement, James has signed on a long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029.

After completing his contract extension procedures, James, who was interviewed by the Leeds United official website again, said: "Of course I am very happy. This is a significant day for me and my family."

"I am very happy to have signed so early in the pre-season. It feels good to settle in now. Yes, I am excited about the future."

"So I am very happy to renew my contract here. It really feels like home here. This is a great club and I can't wait to meet the next few years. As a player, I have a lot to give. I hope we can achieve more."

About Daniel James

James, 27, was born on November 10, 1997 in Kingston upon Hull, England. He is 1.70 meters tall and primarily plays as a right winger. He can also play as a left winger. He has Welsh ancestry.

James joined the academy of his hometown club Hull City at the age of 9, and moved to the Swansea City youth academy in 2014, during which he won the Premier League at the youth academy level with the club.

In the summer of 2017, James was originally loaned-out to Shrewsbury Town, but was recalled one month later because he was not given a chance to play.

After returning to the club following the end of his loan spell, James completed his Swansea City first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in an English FA Cup match in February of the following year.

During his time with the Swans, James originally attracted the attention of Leeds United with his outstanding performances in January, but his transfer at the time collapsed due to the last-minute price increase by Swansea City's then chairman Huw Jenkins, which also led to the breakdown of the relationship between James and Swansea.

In June 2019, James joined Manchester United for £15 million.

During his two-year spell with the Red Devils, James reached the Europa League final once with the club.

On the 2021 summer transfer window deadline day, Leeds United finally signed James for £25 million.

Since becoming a member of the Whites, James has played 123 times in all competitions for the newly promoted Premier League club, scoring 29 goals, assisting 22 times, and winning the EFL Championship once with the club.
