Hellas Verona announced on their official website on Wednesday that Southampton's Germany international defender Armel Bella-Kotchap has joined the club on-loan.
According to the Serie A club's official statement, Bella-Kotchap will play for with the club on-loan until the end of the season, with an optional buyout clause.
About Armel Bella-Kotchap
Armel Bella-Kotchap, 23, was born on December 11, 2001, in Paris, France. He is 1.90 meters tall and plays as a center back. He holds French, German, and Cameroonian citizenship. His father, Cyrille Florent Bella, is former striker who played for Kitchee in the Hong Kong Premier League. His half-brother, Killian Bella Tchanas, is also a center back who currently plays for a club in the German non-league.
Bella-Kotchap played for the youth academies of Rot-Weiss-Aalen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Duisburg as a child. He joined Bochum's youth academy in 2017 and completed his Bochum first-team debut in April 2019.
During his three-year spell at Bochum, Bella-Kotchap helped the club win the 2. Bundesliga 2. His outstanding performances attracted the attention of Bayern Munich and earned him a spot on the Germany national team.
In June 2022, Bella-Kotchap joined Southampton for €10 million. During this time, he also spent time on-loan at PSV Eindhoven.
During his two-year spell with the Saints, Bella-Kotchap made 31 appearances and provided two assists for the EFL Championship club in all competitions.
