Nets officially announce contract extension for forward Ziaire Williams

The 23- year-old Williams had a breakout season in the 2024-25 season. He played a career-high 63 games for the Nets, including 45 starts, averaging 10.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.0 steal, all personal bests. He shot 41.2% from the field, 34.1% from three-point range , and 82.1% from the free throw line .
Williams' three-point shooting improved significantly, hitting 103 three-pointers last season, 27 more than his previous single-season record , and his shooting consistency has greatly improved. He was also impressive on defense, averaging 2.7 pass deflections per game, with a total of 167 in a single season, almost tying his total from the previous three seasons combined and also ranking among the best in Nets history.
Williams joined the Nets in a trade from the Memphis Grizzlies in July 2024. As the 10th overall pick in the 2021 first round , he played for the Grizzlies for three years, gradually showing his potential. He has appeared in 213 career games, averaging 8.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, shooting 42.1% from the field and 31.6% from three-point range .
Williams, a native of Lancaster, California, played college basketball at Stanford before joining the NBA after just one season . Now, he's earned recognition with the Brooklyn Nets for his improved play on both ends of the floor.
