Welsh legend Gareth Bale recently talked about Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso in an interview and believed that Xabi Alonso would make the team better.
With Ancelotti's departure, Xabi Alonso, who led Leverkusen to win the German championship unbeaten, was appointed as the new head coach of Real Madrid last month and will lead the team to the United States to participate in the 2025 Club World Cup.
However, Real Madrid lost 0-4 to the Champions League champions Paris Saint-Germain in the earlier semi-finals and failed to advance to the final.
When asked if he believed Xabi Alonso had the ability to make Mbappe and Vinicius coexist, Gareth Bale, who played for Real Madrid for many years, said: "If you look at his coaching performance in Leverkusen, my answer is yes. Now he has better players and I think the transfer budget will be more sufficient."
"I believe Xabi Alonso has earned the respect of the players and they will fight for him. So I would expect some big changes and I believe he will make the team play according to his philosophy. If someone doesn't cooperate, I don't think he will be afraid to exclude someone from the team."
Gareth Bale also said, "I had a great season with Xabi Alonso. I could see at that time that he would become a coach in the future, and he has a strong passion for football. He is always the first one to appear on the training ground, warming up, passing the ball, and preparing early. He has extremely high requirements for details and is very strict. So, I really hope that he can do well in Real Madrid now."
Speaking of Mbappe's performance, Gareth Bale said, "It's actually difficult to comment because he can still score goals and perform well. When you play for Real Madrid, everyone expects you to win everything. So this is indeed a challenge. He just tries to contribute on the court, but maybe there is no decisive moment."
"Now it depends on how Xabi Alonso balances the team system and how to maximize Mbappe's abilities while helping him conserve his energy and explode at critical moments."
Gareth Bale also added, "So this is indeed a difficult problem. I don't want to criticize him for not playing well in the past season. After all, he scored goals and performed well. But it is true that as a player of Mbappe's level, everyone always expects him to do more."
