Celtic comprehensively won 4-0 against Newcastle United in a pre-season friendly match at the Celtic Park on Saturday.

In the first half, Engels scored a penalty and Kenny pushed the ball into the empty net. In the second half, Yang Hyun-jun pushed the ball into the net from close range and Scales scored with a header. In the end, Celtic defeated Newcastle United by 4-0.

First Half

In the 13th minute, Yang Hyun-jun passes horizontally from the right wing, Arne Engels quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, tried volleying the ball with his right foot from the center of the box, but miskicked. Johnny Kenny quickly followed up and upon picking up the loose ball, pushed the ball with his right foot at a difficult angle from the right side of the box against the outrushing Nick Pope, but his shot blocked by by Sven Botman and went out for a corner.

4 minutes later, Matt Targett crossed into the box from the left wing. The ball was initially headed not far away by Auston Trusty. Fabian Schär quickly followed up quickly followed up and upon picking up the loose ball, volleyed with his left foot from the right side of the box, but his shot went just slightly higher than the upper left corner of the crossbar.

In the 19th minute, Yang Hyun-jun crossed into the box from the right wing. The ball was blocked by Schär and almost flew into his own net. Fortunately, Pope managed to save it in time. The Magpies almost scored an own goal!

5 minutes later, Newcastle made a quick counterattack. Joe Willock intercepted the ball and passes from the front. William Osula quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the center of the box and volleyed with his right foot, but his shot was initially blocked by Dane Murray and then saved over the crossbar by Kasper Schmeichel.

In the 26th minute, Daizen Maeda passes horizontally from the left side of box. When Arne Engels quickly followed up and got the ball at the center of the box, he was brought down by Willock. The referee immediately blew his whistle to award Celtic a penalty. Engels took the penalty kick himself and scored with his right foot. Celtic broke the deadlock first to take a 1-0 lead!

In the 39th minute, Yang Hyun-jun passes horizontally from the right side of the box. Kenny quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his left foot at a very close distance in the box, but his shot was saved by Pope.

4 minutes later, Schär made a long pass from his own back half. After successfully beating the offside trap, Osula quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the right side of the box past the outrushing Schmeichel before volleying with his right foot at a difficult angle, but his shot was blocked by Trusty and went out for a corner.

In the 45th minute, Celtic made a deadly quick counterattack. Schmeichel made a long pass from his own penalty area. Pope made a mistake as he rushed out of his own penalty area failed to clear the ball. After successfully beating the offside trap, Johnny Kenny quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, pushed the ball into the bottom left corner of the empty net with his right foot from the right side of the box. Celtic expanded its lead to 2-0!

At the end of the first half, Celtic temporarily led Newcastle United by 2-0 into the halftime break.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 48th minute, Alex Murphy crossed into the box from the left wing. Osula quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his left foot from the center of the box, but his shot was saved by Schmeichel.

4 minutes later, Maeda passes horizontally from the left side of the box. Yang Hyun-jun quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, pushes the ball into the bottom right corner of the net with his right foot at a very close distance in the box. Celtic expanded its lead again to 3-0!

In the 74th minute, Celtic launched a quick counterattack. Jamal Lascelles made a mistake in clearing the ball in his own backcourt. Reo Hatate quickly followed up, intercepted the ball and took a few steps before taking a long shot from outside the penalty area with his right foot, but his shot was saved by Martin Dúbravka.

Soon after, Kieran Tierney crossed into the box from the left wing. Liam Scales rose high and scored with a header in the box. Celtic secured the victory at 4-0!

In the first minute of injury time, Sean Neave crossed into the box from the right wing. Lewis Miley attempted with a header from the center of the box, however his effort the ball was saved by Viljami Sinisalo.

When the final whistle is blown, Celtic hammered Newcastle United by 4-0.
