Udinese announced on its official website on Thursday that the club has triggered the contract extension clause of Belgium international defender Christian Kabasele.

According to Udinese's official statement, Kabasele has signed on a new short-term on-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2026.

About Christian Kabasele

Kabasele, 34, was born on February 24, 1991 in Lubumbashi, DR Congo. He is 1.87 meters tall and plays as a center back. He has dual nationality of DR Congo and Belgium.

Kabasele joined the youth academy of non-league club Chaudfontaine at the age of 7, joined the Eupen youth academy at the age of 13 and completed his Eupen first-team debut in October 2008.

During his time at Eupen, he also played for Mechelen on-loan, but only got a few opportunities to play.

In August 2011, Kabasele joined Ludogorets Razgrad for €300,000.

During this period, he helped the club completes the Bulgarian First League and the Bulgarian Cup Double.

In August of the following year, Kabasele returned to Eupen for €500,000.

In January 2014, Kabasele moved to Genk for €1.5 million.

In July 2016, Kabasele joined Watford for £5.8 million.

During his seven-year spell with the Hornets, Kabasele helped the club reach the English FA Cup final once.

In July 2023, Kabasele joined Udinese for €2 million.

Since becoming a member of Le Zebrette, so far, Kabasele has played 32 times for the Serie A club in all competitions, scoring 3 goals and assisting 1 time.
