Augsburg released a statement on Tuesday confirming the transfer of Hannoa Masengo from Burnley. The two parties signed a five-year contract, which is valid until June 30, 2030.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavoleri further pointed out that the transfer fee for this transaction was 3 million euros.
The 24-year-old Hanoia Massengo was born in Villepinte, France, and made his debut for the first team in the Champions League group stage on November 6, 2018. He then moved to Bristol City and Burnley, and joined Auxerre on loan twice.
To date, Masengo has played a total of 107 Championship games, 34 Ligue 1 games, 3 Champions League games and 3 Premier League games at the club level. He mainly plays as a central midfielder and defensive midfielder, and has only 7 assists so far.
Regarding the arrival of Masengo, Augsburg CEO Michael Streller commented: "Hannoa is a midfielder with great potential and vitality. His joining makes our midfield configuration deeper and more diverse. Although he is only 24 years old, he already has rich experience and great development potential. We are full of expectations for future cooperation and wish Hannoa a good start in Augsburg."
Masengo said: "I am very happy to be a member of this club from now on. Augsburg has shown that players can develop very well here. The Bundesliga is very attractive to me and I am very much looking forward to getting to know the stadium and the fans here. My goal is to do my best every day and work hard to win a place in the team."
According to the official statement, Masengo will wear the No. 4 jersey at Augsburg.
