Fenerbahçe announced on Tuesday that Domenico Tedesco has been appointed as first-team manager, replacing Jose Mourinho. The two sides have signed a two-year contract, which runs until June 30, 2027.

The appointment of Fenerbahçe marks Tedesco's return to football after a seven-month layoff. In January this year, he was dismissed as national team coach by the Belgian Football Association (KBVB) due to poor results and personnel issues.

The 39-year-old Tedesco initially managed youth development at clubs such as Stuttgart and Hoffenheim before taking sole charge of the first team in 2017. He has previously coached Mining Aue, Schalke 04, Spartak Moscow, and RB Leipzig, and is widely regarded as a leading figure among Germany's young coaches.

According to Transfermarkt, Tedesco has managed 251 club matches, winning 132, drawing 46, and losing 73. His most notable achievement was undoubtedly leading RB Leipzig to their first-ever German Cup title in the 2020/21 season.

In August 2023, Tedesco succeeded Roberto Martinez as the head coach of the Belgian national team. During his tenure, he only coached Belgium 24 games, with a record of 12 wins, 6 draws and 6 losses.
