In their third pre-season friendly, Inter Milan and Monza tied 2-2 after regular time, ultimately winning on penalties. In a post-match interview, coach Christian Chivu provided a comprehensive review of the team's performance and preparations.
"The main goal of this match was to accumulate game time for the players and gradually improve their fitness while keeping a balanced workload," said Chivu. "Those players who played less against Monaco got more opportunities to play today."
"We are working hard to improve our physical condition and to distribute our training load properly. We even had double training sessions after the Monaco match."
"The players gave their best performance tonight. My goal is to hold them accountable and give their best every day, while also building motivation as the league approaches. We have to make sure we continue to be as competitive as we have been in recent years."
After two weeks of intense training, Kivu admitted, "It's not easy to stay sharp during matches. Mentally, while there's always room for improvement, the team has done a good job in that regard. I've seen commitment, hard work, and motivation."
In order to help the team get into the rhythm of the game better, Inter Milan arranged four friendly matches within a four-week training cycle, which is a big challenge to physical fitness and adaptability.
"This is not easy, this is a new situation, but we hope to turn it into an advantage through such training volume and game arrangements, so that the team can be prepared before the first official game." Kivu emphasized.
