Borussia Dortmund announced on its official website on Tuesday that the club has officially bought out the rights of Chelsea's on-loan England U21s attacking midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, who is currently.

According to Dortmund's official statement, Chukwuemeka has signed on a long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030. He will also continue to wear the number 17 jersey.

After completing his joining procedures, Chukwuemeka, who was interviewed by the Borussia Dortmund official website again, said, "It feels great to be an integral part of Borussia Dortmund now. Over the past few months, I've gotten to know the club, the head coach, my teammates, and the fans, and I'm delighted that Dortmund is now my new home. I will do my best to ensure we achieve our goals as a team."

In addition, according to Sky Sports' resident renowned German transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, BVB paid Chelsea €24 million to buy out Chukwuemeka's ownership. The Blues will also receive a 45% share of Chukwuemeka's sell-on clause.

Chukwuemeka, who is only 21, was born on October 20, 2003, in Eisenstadt, Austria. He is 1.85 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a left winger. He holds Austrian, English, and Nigerian citizenship. His older brother, Caleb, is also a professional footballer.

Chukwuemeka joined Northampton Town's youth academy at a young age, joining Aston Villa's youth academy in March 2016 and completed his Aston Villa first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in May 2021, aged just 17 years, 6 months, and 29 days at the time.

In August 2022, Chukwuemeka joined Chelsea for £20 million.

During his two-and-a-half-year spell at the Premier League giants, Chukwuemeka rarely got playing opportunities.

On the 2025 winter transfer window deadline day, Chukwuemeka was loaned-out to Borussia Dortmund.

Since joining BVB, Chukwuemeka has made 17 appearances for the Bundesliga giants in all competitions, scoring one goal and helping them reach the quarterfinals of both the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
