Sevilla FC has confirmed its third signing for the 2025-26 season: 31-year-old Greek goalkeeper Odiseas Vlahodimos will join the club on a season-long loan from Newcastle United. The 1.91-meter-tall Vlahodimos arrived in Sevilla on Monday to complete the necessary formalities and sign the contract.  

Odisias Vlachodimos has extensive experience at the highest level in European football. Born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1994, the Greek goalkeeper began his professional career with VfB Stuttgart and made his Bundesliga debut in 2015. He then spent three seasons with Panathinaikos.  

His success in Greece earned him a move to European giants Benfica, where he played for five seasons, excelling. In 225 appearances for the Portuguese side, he played in 32 Champions League games and 12 Europa League matches, helping them win two league titles and two Portuguese Super Cups.  

In his first interview with Sevilla FC, Odisias Vlachodimos expressed his joy at joining on loan. He said: "I'm very happy to be here. This experience has been like a roller coaster with many ups and downs. I can't wait to start this new journey and look forward to meeting my teammates, the staff and the coaching staff. I'm ready for a new life."  

"I started playing football at a very young age in Stuttgart, progressing through the youth teams and eventually breaking into the first team. I then had the opportunity to play for Panathinaikos, where I participated in some exciting derby matches. I continued to develop as a goalkeeper. I then joined Benfica, where I began my international career and represented the Greek national team. During my five years at Benfica, I won numerous trophies. Feeling ready to challenge the Premier League, I joined Nottingham Forest and, after just over a year, moved on to Newcastle United."  

Odisias Vlachodimos discussed his goals: "I want to help Sevilla return to the pinnacle of European football. Sevilla is a top club, having won the Europa League seven times, and I believe they deserve to return to the top of La Liga. I look forward to doing my best to help the club return to the top."
