Official: Frankfurt extends contract with 44-year-old coach Top Muller until 2028

Frankfurt issued a statement on Thursday announcing that it had completed the contract extension with head coach Dino Topmuller. The new contract will extend the original agreement by two years and will be valid until June 30, 2028.
According to Bild, Topmuller's annual salary after the contract extension is expected to increase from 1.5 million euros to 3 million euros including bonuses.
Topmuller, 44, played for Frankfurt as a player for one season, helping the team return to the Bundesliga. He started his coaching career in 2012 and is regarded as one of the best young coaches in Germany.
Topmüller started out as a player-coach at Meerling and Hammers Benfica, before moving on to Dudelange and Virton Elite. He also worked as an assistant to Julian Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich.
In July 2023, Topmuller returned to Frankfurt as the first team coach. So far, he has led the team to a record of 41 wins, 27 draws and 26 losses, and has qualified for the European Cup for two consecutive years.
Frankfurt is ranked third in the Bundesliga standings this season, and coach Top Muller has made great contributions. Frankfurt sports director Kroescher commented: "This season, the team has made significant progress in all stages of the game and at the tactical level. Compared with last season, the team has made great progress both in individual ability and overall tactics."
He added: "The outstanding work of head coach Dino Topmuller and his coaching team is a key factor in the positive changes in the team. Under their leadership, the team has made a leap forward in terms of stability, tactical structure and game maturity. In particular, young and extremely talented players have been systematically developed and gradually reached the top level."
“We are confident that Dino will continue to lead the team along this path of success. Our goal remains to achieve continued improvement in performance and further expand the club’s ambitious economic development prospects. In view of this, we are full of confidence in future cooperation.”
Topmuller said: "It is my wish to coach and stay here. I am very proud to be the head coach of Frankfurt. We have made significant progress this season, but our journey together is far from over."
"I am very much looking forward to my future in Frankfurt and I believe we will achieve more glory together. We will go all out against Freiburg this Saturday and strive to achieve the next victory."
