Fulham took the lead in the 25th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season thanks to an own goal, but conceded two goals in the second half, ultimately losing 1-2 to Everton. Marco Silva stated in an interview that his team lost control of the game in the second half and therefore must reflect on their performance.
In the 18th minute, Chukuese delivered a cross, and Raul Jimenez met it with a shot from inside the penalty area. Everton goalkeeper Pickford's clearance attempt deflected off Mykolenko and into the net, giving Fulham a 1-0 lead.
In the 75th minute of the second half, Mykolenko assisted Diussbury Hall to score, helping Everton equalize 1-1. In the 83rd minute, Diussbury Hall took a corner kick, and Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno inadvertently deflected the ball into his own net while clearing it, giving Everton a 2-1 lead.
Ultimately, Fulham were defeated 1-2 by Everton at home. After losing three points, Fulham are now 10th in the league table with 34 points.
Fulham manager Marco Silva said, "We should have sealed the game earlier, or at least scored three or four goals in the first half. I know Everton also created a good chance from a corner, but we created a lot of chances, and very clear scoring opportunities."
“In the second half we stopped doing the right things. We had communicated at halftime and anticipated Everton’s normal reaction; we knew they would press forward. But we started to lose control of the game. We tried to respond with the bench, but ultimately we lost control. To lose the game in this way, we have to blame ourselves.”
Marco Silva pointed out, "Our defense in the penalty area was too weak, and this was a moment for self-reflection and a real examination of ourselves, because the team wanted to prove itself. This was a great opportunity, but we had to prove ourselves for the full 90 minutes, not just 45."
Furthermore, when discussing Rodrigo Muniz's return, Marco Silva said, "Rodrigo Muniz will definitely be very important. The way we played and the lack of solutions in our attack over the past two or three months has been abnormal."
“We have a very good Premier League-level bench, and that bench can provide solutions for us in the upcoming games. Having players like Oscar Bob ready to help the team, Raul Jimenez, and improving the overall strength is very important for us.”
