Strasbourg announced on its official website on Sunday that the club has signed Senegal international defensive midfielder wonderkid Pape Demba Diop from Zulte Waregem.

According to the Ligue 1 club's official statement f the French Ligue 1 club, Demba Diop has signed on a long-term six-year with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.

In addition, according to CBS Sports' resident renowned transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea had already decided to sign and develop Demba Diop through its feeder club Strasbourg first, and then sign the player to the Blues when the time is right.

Unlike some reports which were made by African online media outlets, apart from Chelsea, no other Premier League club has ever been interested in signing Demba Diop.

About Pape Demba Diop

Pape Demba Diop, who is only 21 years old, was born in Ouakam, Senegal on September 2003. He is 1.82 meters tall and plays as a defensive midfielder.

Demba Diop joined the youth academy of Diambars, a local club in Senegal, since he was a child and completed his Diambars first-team debut in a CAF Confederations Cup match in September 2021.

The following summer, Demba Diop joined Zulte Waregem for €200,000.

During his three-year spell with De Boeren, Demba Diop played 43 times for the newly-promoted Jupiler Pro League club across all competitions, scored 7 goals, assisted 7 times, and won the Challenger Pro League once with the club.
