Premier League club Manchester City officially announced the signing of French rising star Mathis Rayan Cherki. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder signed a five-year contract with the team and will play until 2030.

Cherki is known as one of the most creative young players in Europe. He came from Lyon's youth training system, made his first-team debut at the age of 16, and became the youngest scorer in the team's history.

Whether it is organizing from the center, breaking through from the wing, or directly scoring, Cherki has amazing all-round ability. He has outstanding two-footed skills and agile breakthroughs. He can pass the ball to assist, and can also decisively shoot from any angle.

In the 2024-25 season, Cherki became the only player in Ligue 1 (except Paris Saint-Germain) to be selected into the best team of the season. He is considered the midfield engine and creative core of Ligue 1.
