Neuer's agent, Thomas Kroth, said on Tuesday that his client is open to a return to the Germany national team.

Manuel Neuer, 39, is one of the most iconic goalkeepers in German football. During his career, he won two Champions League titles, 12 Bundesliga titles, two Club World Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, five German Cups, and eight German Super Cups with Bayern Munich. He also made 124 appearances for Germany, lifting the World Cup in 2014.

In August 2024, Neuer announced the end of his 15-year international career. Barcelona's 33-year-old Marc-André ter Stegen was considered Neuer's successor, but his club status has declined as he is still recovering from back surgery.

Against this backdrop, rumors of Neuer's return have intensified recently. In an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FR), Neuer's agent, Klot, was pressed on the possibility of his client participating in the 2026 World Cup. Klot responded, "If I were to give a definitive answer now, it would undoubtedly cause a stir. Manuel is in excellent physical condition and is still performing at a top level. If Julian Nagelsmann identified a problem in goalkeeping, and Manuel remained fit and was called up, he certainly wouldn't refuse."
