Nottingham Forest has announced that goalkeeper Mats Sells has signed a new contract with the club. In the 2024-25 season, the Belgian international played well and successfully completed 13 clean sheets, becoming the first player in the club's history to win the Premier League Golden Glove Award.  

Mats Sells joined Nottingham Forest at the last minute of the 2024 winter transfer window and quickly secured a starting position. In the following six months, he made many key saves and made great contributions to the team's successful relegation. Throughout the season, he started every game and eventually helped Nottingham Forest to enter the top seven of the Premier League and win the precious Champions League qualification.  

In addition to his outstanding performance in the league, Mats Sells also played a key role in Nottingham Forest's FA Cup campaign in 2025. He made wonderful saves in the games against Exeter City, Ipswich Town and the quarter-final against Brighton, especially in the penalty shootout, which helped the team advance.  

Mats Sells has played 9 games for the national team so far, remaining unbeaten, and served as the starting goalkeeper in the last three games of the Belgian team in 2025, with a solid performance.  

When talking about the contract extension, Mats Sells said: "I am very happy to be able to renew my contract with the club. This past season was very exciting for us. I am just a member of the team. I am proud to be able to contribute. I am very happy to continue to stay here."

Mats Sells has signed a new contract with the club following an impressive season which saw him win the Premier League Golden Glove award after keeping 13 clean sheets.  

He added: “I’m very happy to receive this individual award, but it’s not just one person’s work, it’s all about the team. The feeling of achievement at the end of the season is unforgettable. I’ve come to realise the importance of winning this trophy, but now we’re into a new season and new challenges await us.”
