Dani Rodriguez's early termination of his contract with Mallorca, and his public criticism of the head coach, became the trigger.

Real Mallorca announced on Thursday that they are terminating Dani Rodriguez's contract six months ahead of schedule.
The 38-year-old Dani Rodriguez primarily plays as a central midfielder, but can also play as an attacking midfielder, left winger, right winger, left midfielder, and right midfielder. He came through the Deportivo La Coruña youth academy and spent much of his professional career with lower-league teams such as Atlético Ferrol, Racing Santander, and Albacete.
In July 2018, Rodriguez joined Real Mallorca on a free transfer. To date, he has made 282 appearances for Mallorca, scoring 32 goals and providing 39 assists.
However, Rodriguez's seven-and-a-half-year career at Mallorca ended in a rather controversial manner. All indications suggest that the immediate trigger for his termination was his public criticism of manager Iagoba Arrasate's substitution of Manu Moranes with Jan Virgili after Mallorca's 1-2 defeat to Real Madrid.
This slip of the tongue immediately triggered a chain reaction. Three months before his contract expired, Rodriguez already faced severe penalties, including suspension from matches, salary, and training, and even being removed from his position as vice-captain.
Despite this, Rodriguez remains grateful to the fans and residents of Mallorca. In his farewell statement, he wrote: "At this moment, only the word 'thank you' comes to mind. To the fans and all the residents of Mallorca, the only thing I can give you is my gratitude. We have had such a wonderful time here. My wife, children, and I are so fortunate to have lived on such a beautiful island for so many years. I can only say thank you, because from the first day to the last, your love has always been with me. I hope to repay your kindness through hard work, dedication, and all-out effort. In every game, I did my best to defend the Mallorca jersey. I also believe that I have always protected it in the best way possible."
