Borussia Mönchengladbach's director publicly supports interim coach Eugen Polanski: I will fully support him

Borussia Mönchengladbach's new sporting director Ruben Schröder said on Thursday that Eugen Polanski will continue as interim first-team coach.

Former Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Gerardo Servane resigned last month after a 10-match winless streak in the Bundesliga. Borussia Mönchengladbach was subsequently replaced by second-team coach Eugen Polanski, but the club remains winless after four matches.

Currently, Borussia Mönchengladbach continues to rank third from the bottom with a record of 3 draws and 3 losses. At the same time, Ruben Schröder officially replaced Roland Wilkus as Borussia Mönchengladbach's sports director.

Despite Borussia Mönchengladbach's struggles after the coaching change, Schröder publicly supported Polanski. At his inaugural press conference on Thursday, Schröder said, "From the very beginning, Eugen made a very good impression on me. He has a clear mind and a strong will, which is especially evident in crucial moments."

"We're not working on a set timetable - it's all about belief, and we all have that belief. He's our coach and he'll take on Union Berlin, and I'll give him my full support."

"I always believe that there must be a balance between reality and ambition. The only important thing is to get out of this difficult situation. We must work together and give our all to win points, and the rest will come naturally."

"Borussia Mönchengladbach represents passion and a unique style of football. We aim to maintain unity in both attack and defence and play as a team. Our fans remain steadfast in their support – their faith needs to be reflected on the pitch."

"It's about laying the foundation: I want the players to give their all, play freely and play for each other. We need leaders – players who really embody the Borussia Mönchengladbach spirit."

Polanski, 39, originally from Poland, played for Borussia Mönchengladbach for 14 years as a player. He announced his retirement in July 2018 and returned to Borussia Mönchengladbach the following year. Before taking temporary charge of the first team, Polanski served as a scout, then as head coach of the U17 and second teams.

According to Bild, Schröder's support for Polanski was one of the requirements or conditions put forward by Borussia Mönchengladbach's management during the negotiations. Schröder accepted this arrangement relatively quickly, aiming to balance the relationship between the club and the fans.
