In the 2024/25 UEFA European Association League final, Chelsea defeated Real Betis 4-1 after falling behind by one goal thanks to goals from Enzo, Jackson, Sancho and Caicedo. Caicedo said this is a medal he will never forget.
Real Betis seized the opportunity to attack in the 9th minute. Isco got the ball and made a cross. Abd Ezzalzuli received the ball in the penalty area and scored with a low shot, helping Real Betis take the lead 1-0.
In the 65th minute of the second half, Palmer made a cross from the right to the penalty area, and Enzo scored with a header, helping Chelsea to tie the score at 1-1. In the 70th minute, Palmer assisted Jackson to score with a header, helping Chelsea to overtake 2-1.
With Sancho and Caicedo scoring in the final stages of the game, Chelsea finally defeated Real Betis 4-1 at the Wroclaw City Stadium and successfully won the championship.
"I'm really happy," said 23-year-old Chelsea midfielder Caicedo. "This is a medal I will always remember. I want to thank God because of Him that I can be here. Everyone is very happy and we will celebrate big. This is definitely a start. We want to win more championships for this great club, and we will definitely do it."
"Yes, winning the championship is what I came here for. Everyone in the team is very talented and professional. I am very happy with this performance. It has been a great season and this trophy is the icing on the cake."
In addition, midfielder Palmer contributed two assists in the final and was one of the contributors to Chelsea's championship.
Chelsea striker Madueke said of Palmer: "He is the key man. Whenever we need him, he always comes forward. Like many of us, he was quiet in the first half, but he always explodes at the critical moment. I am very happy for him and proud of him."
"We started off a bit slow, which is true for many of our first halves this season. But I think the way we played in the second half, we were the only winners. We stepped up our intensity across the board. I'm really proud of my teammates and what we've achieved throughout the season and in this competition."
"We've qualified for the Champions League next season and won a trophy. You can only win the games that are in front of you, so I think it's been a great season."
