After Brentford duo Brian Mbeumo and Jone Visa both scored 18 Premier League goals in their highlight season, team captain Christian Norgaard admitted that Mbeumo "may" leave the team this summer, while Visa's future remains unknown.
"I think Brian is likely to leave, Visa's situation is uncertain and everyone hopes he will stay," Norgaard told Sky Sports News.
Despite the possible departure of key players, Norgaard appears to be very calm. He pointed out that this is not the first time Brentford has experienced such a lineup reshuffle: "We have sent Ollie Watkins and Benrahma before, and then Ivan Toney. It's the same now."
In the summer of 2020, Brentford sold Watkins and Benrahma to Aston Villa and West Ham United respectively for a total of 54 million pounds; in the summer of 2023, Tony moved to Saudi giants Riyadh Crescent for 40 million pounds.
"I am calm," Norgaard said. "People have asked a lot of questions about Mbeumo and Visa. You can feel the concerns about their departure, but the club is prepared for possible personnel changes."
He specifically mentioned Igor Thiago, a new signing this summer, "He is a great guy and I believe he will take the Premier League by storm one day. If Visa's dream really comes true and he leaves the team, or if Mbeumo really leaves, he can take over immediately."
Norgaard is confident in the club's recruitment system: "Brentford is very forward-looking in recruitment and is always one step ahead, or even two or three steps ahead."
