Chelsea defender Cucurella has spoken about his role in the team and said he enjoys helping new teammates integrate and building a good team atmosphere.

Chelsea will face Tunisia's Hope at Lincoln Financial Field in the third round of the 2025 Club World Cup Group D. In the last round of the group stage, Chelsea relied on Pedro Neto to score, but Jackson was sent off in the second half and eventually lost to Flamengo 1-3.

When talking about how to lead new players to adapt to life in the team, the 26-year-old Cucurella shared, "It's great to be able to play such a role in the team. Our team is very young, and I have been trying to bring my experience in to help the team in all aspects. The new players are all very good, and we try to help them integrate faster. Because when you first join a new club, it may be difficult to adapt in those few weeks."

"We're spending a lot of time together in the U.S. right now, and if you don't feel confident, it's going to be hard because the time is long. So I try to create a good team atmosphere. We have a chat group for Spanish-speaking players, and we all know to help each other and stay close. We have a good group, some of whom have been working together for a long time. We've known each other for a few years and have a good time together."

As for family life, Cucurella said, "We all know that the hardest thing about being away from home is that we can't be with our family often. We will miss a lot of family time, but on the other hand, we can play a lot of games, and playing football is what we love. When we retire, we will never play football again, and we will miss those moments, so we have to enjoy the beauty of it."

“I keep in touch with my family quite often. Although the time difference is a bit difficult to adjust to, we always keep in touch and it’s always nice to know how they are doing at school and at home.”

Cucurella also said, "Don't just think about football all day long. It's also important to stay refreshed. Of course, you have to focus on training and the game. But in the rest of the time, you have to live like an ordinary person and enjoy the little things in your normal life."
