Wolves officially announced that striker Mateus Cunha has officially transferred to Manchester United. This deal set a record for the club's highest transfer income in history.
Since joining from Atletico Madrid on Christmas Day 2022, Cunha has made 92 appearances for Wolves and scored 33 goals. The 2023-24 season was Cunha's highlight on the Premier League stage. He was the team's top scorer with 17 goals and was voted the best player of the season by his teammates for his outstanding performance.
This season, Cunha has stepped up in many key games. He scored a wonderful goal in the FA Cup derby against West Bromwich Albion in January, and a week later he scored a hat-trick away at Chelsea, becoming the second player in Wolves' Premier League history to complete a hat-trick.
In addition, Cunha had six goals nominated for Goal of the Season, including a brace against Fulham and the 'Olympic Goal' against Manchester United on Boxing Day.
Cunha's last game for Wolves was against Brentford in the season finale, and he became one of the key players in helping Wolves to win the Premier League for the eighth consecutive year.
The Wolves also expressed their gratitude to Cunha in the statement: "All the Wolves staff would like to thank Cunha for his contribution during his time with the Golden Wolves and wish him and his family all the best in the future."
The 26-year-old Brazilian striker is about to start a new chapter in his career, and the story he writes at Molineux will remain in the memory of Wolves.
