Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, exclusively refuted rumours claiming that Darwin Núñez has decided to leave Al-Hilal due to dissatisfaction with Karim Benzema's arrival on his official YouTube channel on Thursday.

In the video, Romano refuted that the rumour was clearly a typical example of the kind of fabricated story he has repeatedly cited, where "player X's move to a certain club caused player Y to feel insecure and want to leave."

He said Núñez was never unhappy with Karim Benzema's arrival; on the contrary, he was happy to be teammates with the world-class former Ballon d'Or winner.

Since joining Al-Hilal from Liverpool last summer, Núñez has never ruled out the possibility of a transfer this summer, knowing that the club's foreign player registration slots could be filled at any time, preventing him from getting playing time. The Uruguay international striker has always hoped for a return to Europe.

However, this doesn't mean he's decided to leave in anger, or even to join Fenerbahçe.
