Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, exclusively confirmed on Monday via his official YouTube channel that Manchester United will compete for the signing of RB Leipzig wonderkid Benjamin Šeško with Newcastle United.
In the video, Romano stated that Šeško and Leipzig have a gentleman's agreement that allows him to leave the club this summer for a transfer fee of €70 million to €80 million, plus a €10 million potential add-on fees, provided he agrees to join the club willing to submit such an offer.
After learning that Hugo Ekitike had chosen to join Liverpool, Newcastle United quickly approached RB Leipzig to discuss the necessary conditions for signing Šeško.
Unexpectedly, Manchester United have also approached Leipzig suddenly on Sunday (July 27).
Currently, both clubs are only in the initial stages of enquiring with RB Leipzig. Neither the Magpies nor the Red Devils have submitted a formal offer to Leipzig yet, and the player has yet to respond to the interest from either Premier League giant.
Romano also added that some Saudi Pro League clubs approached Šeško's agent in early June, but the player made it clear that he had no intention of leaving European football at this time, so those inquiries have since ceased.

Benjamin Šeško, 22, was born on May 13, 2003, in Radeče, Slovenia. He stands 1.94 meters tall and plays as a center forward.
Šeško joined the youth academy of his hometown club, Radeče, at the age of seven. He later played for Rudar Trbovlje, Krško, and Domžalé. In June 2019, he signed for Red Bull Salzburg, for €2 million but was immediately loaned out to their satellite club, Liefering, for two seasons.
At the end of January 2021, Šeško completed his Red Bull Salzburg first-team debut by coming on as a substitute.
During his three-year spell at Salzburg, Šeško won the Austrian Bundesliga three times and the Austrian Cup once with the club.
In July 2023, Šeško joined sister club RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg for €30 million.
Since joining Leipzig, Šeško has made 87 appearances for the Bundesliga giants in all competitions so far, scoring 39 goals and providing eight assists, winning the DFB-Pokal once with the club.
