Gabriel Suazo attended a press conference to share his thoughts on his first few months as a Sevilla player, and the Chilean defender is confident that his team will soon return to winning ways at home.
At the press conference, Gabriel Suazo said: "The team showed a good level from the beginning and we are constantly improving. Of course, we also know that there is room for improvement. But we have shown that Sevilla has the determination to fight for big goals."
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here since I arrived. Everyone has been so friendly to me, it’s like I’ve been part of the team for a long time. I’m happy to be able to contribute in any position I can. As a team, we’re improving with every game and training session, and I hope this positive momentum can continue.”
The defender denied the notion that he was a leader in the dressing room. He stressed: "I'm just like any other team-mate. I'm proud to wear the captain's armband, but my goal here is to help the team with my positive attitude and energy. I'm the same person at home, in the dressing room, and on the pitch. I always stick to the values I was raised on, and while that may allow me to support the team and even be seen as a leader, I still consider myself just like everyone else."
He said of his plans for Sunday's match against Barcelona: "Head coach Matías Almeida will respond in the most appropriate way. He is undoubtedly the best person to take on this role. I am confident that we will stick to our style of play. Every game is different and he and the coaching staff will study it carefully. I have complete trust in his plans and am reassured by the effort we will put in this week to win."
He is optimistic about winning at home: "I think we had a chance. Although we didn't succeed in the end, we have already demonstrated that. The team and I have experienced this deeply and there is no pressure at all. Playing at home with the fans is the most exciting experience. We are eager to achieve better results. Of course, I also understand that good results come and go quickly. But we will go all out and strive to achieve our goals as soon as possible. We know that our opponents are strong, but we will do our best to defend the points."
Finally, he talked about the atmosphere in the team's locker room. "Our motivation remains the same as in preseason. It's true that victory allows us to get back to work more calmly. But both the motivation and the desire for goals are the same as in the friendly matches. I see that the players still maintain their fighting spirit and energy. The season is a long journey. We will experience ups and downs and face difficult times. It is at times like these that we must show unity."
