Inter Milan's new head coach Christian Chivu was officially unveiled on Saturday as the team prepares for its debut at the FIFA Club World Cup. Chairman and CEO Giuseppe Marotta spoke to the media before the press conference.  

“We are here in Los Angeles for this great tournament. This season we have proven that Inter is one of the top teams in the world and we are proud to represent Italy on the world stage. The goal of this trip is to win important honours. Football is changing fast and four years ago we joined forces with a coach who meant a lot to the club, who gave us a lot of support and we have reciprocated his dedication.”  

“Today, Inter’s partnership with Simone Inzaghi comes to an end. As is football, we say goodbye in a friendly way, thanking him for the great moments he brought to the team.”  

"We have brought in a candidate who is worthy of the club's long tradition. Like Ausilio and Bachin, Cristian Chivu is the ideal candidate to carry on the Inter Milan spirit. This decision was made with the joint support of the club's owners. Although there were some rumors outside, there was actually no confusion. We made a quick decision within 24 hours and only some bureaucratic procedures remained to be completed. We are particularly grateful to Parma Club for facilitating the smooth completion of this signing."  

" Christian Chivu is no stranger to Inter Milan. As an outstanding player, he has achieved outstanding honors and prestige in his career. At the age of 22, he has served as captain of Ajax and has appeared on the important stage of many matches."  

“After transitioning to coaching, he has accumulated rich experience. He has coached Inter Milan’s youth training team and led the U19 team to win the Italian Youth League Championship. In Serie A, he quickly demonstrated his influence and successfully helped Parma to avoid relegation. We are proud to have such a coach who grew up from Inter Milan’s youth training system. His passionate coaching style is very suitable for the club’s development philosophy.”  

“Next year, we will continue to participate in all domestic and European competitions with the same determination to win. Although the result of the game in Bayern Munich was regrettable, it is not easy to reach the Champions League final twice in three years. Although we did not achieve our goal, we have learned valuable lessons from it and are preparing for the game with all our strength and vowing to make a comeback.”  

"Next season, we will form an U23 team to compete in the Italian Serie C. As a club and its ownership group, we are actively embracing this new model and are committed to the development of young players. Two young talents have already successfully entered the first team. It is worth mentioning that the World Cup squad also includes several young players who have returned from loan."
