Bayern Munich defender Eric Dier will join Monaco as a free agent this summer, French media L'Equipe reported on Tuesday. The two sides have finalized a two-year contract with an option to renew until June 2028.
Monaco is currently fourth in the French Ligue 1 standings and is still expected to qualify for the Champions League next season. They regard Dale as their primary signing target this summer, hoping to use his rich experience to provide guidance and support to young players.
The 31-year-old Dier joined Bayern Munich on loan from Tottenham in January 2024 and completed a permanent transfer for £3 million in March of the same year. So far, he has played 11 Champions League games, 33 Bundesliga games and 1 German Cup for Bayern, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists.
Before joining Bayern, Dier played for Sporting Lisbon and Tottenham Hotspur. During his time at Sporting Lisbon, Dier made 32 appearances, scored 1 goal and provided 5 assists. After joining Tottenham, he made 365 appearances in ten years, contributing 13 goals and 12 assists.
Dale also played 49 games for the England national team and scored 3 goals.
