Lille's veteran French midfielder Rémy Cabella announced on Tuesday through his personal official Instagram social media account that he will leave the team at the end of the season.

Cabela wrote in a statement: "To everyone at Lille, I don't know how to thank you for the three wonderful years I spent with you and all the love you have given me."

"I tried my best to give you everything. I will always be grateful to Lille for their trust in me and for giving me the opportunity to experience all the great moments in my career. I am proud to wear this jersey and feel these colours engraved in my heart."

"Today, I have to say goodbye to you with a heavy heart and excitement. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the President, the head coach, all my teammates, the staff, and everyone who supports me in my daily work (medical, coach, nutritionist, housekeeper, catering) and all the fans. ”

About Rémy Cabella

Cabella, 35, was born in Ajaccio, France on March 8, 1990. He is 1.71 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder. He can also play as a left winger or a right winger. He has dual French and Italian nationality.

Cabella joined the youth academy of his hometown club Gazelec Ajaccio at the age of 10. Four years later, he moved to the Montpellier youth academy. During this spell, he won the Coupe Gambardella once with the club.

After being promoted to the first-team in the summer of 2009, Cabella was loaned-out to Arles-Avignon in July of the following year to gain match experience.

After returning to the club following the end of his loan spell in the summer of 2011, Cabella completed his Montpellier first-team debut in the Coupe de la Ligue match against Lorient at the end of October of the same year.

During his three-year spell at Montpellier, Cabella helped the club surprisingly win the Ligue 1 once.

In July 2014, Cabella joined Newcastle United for £8 million.

During his time with the Magpies, Cabella failed to perform at his best due to the poor performance of the whole team.

In August of the following year, Cabella was loaned-out to Marseille, and later, his ownership was officially bought out in August 2016.

During his two-year spell with Les Olympiens, Cabela helped the club reach the Coupe de France final once and the Coupe de la Ligue quarter-finals once.

On the 2017 summer transfer window deadline day, Cabella joined Saint-Etienne on-loan with an obligation to buy.

In July 2019, Cabella joined Krasnodar for €12 million.

In March 2022, affected by the Russian-Ukrainian war, Cabella terminated his contract with the Russian Premier League giants and returned to Montpellier as a free agent.

In July of the same year, Cabella joined Lille as a free agent.

During his three-year spell with Les Dogues, so far, Cabella has played 121 times for the Ligue 1 powerhouse in all competitions, scoring 28 goals and providing 19 assists. During which he has reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Conference League once, the round of 16s of the UEFA Champions League once, and the round of 16s of the Coupe de la Ligue three times with the club.
