Leicester City defeated Fiorentina 2-0. Head coach Marti Cifuentes praised the team's excellent form. Jordan Ayew and Abdel Fattahau each scored in the first half, as their high-pressing tactics overcame the Serie A side and proved crucial in their opening goal of the match.  

Having established his tactical framework during last month's training camp in Austria, Matti Cifuentes hopes to further strengthen his approach in the final week of preparations, and he saw many positive signs during the 90 minutes at Filbert Road.  

He said: "I am very proud and satisfied with this performance. Considering that we have only been working with the band for a few weeks, it is not easy to put on such a high-level performance. We have a lot of positive experiences to summarize and learn from in the coming weeks."  

"Obviously, we still have a lot to improve, and of course we're eager to do better. But overall, I'm very pleased because I saw a team with a distinct style and a clear way of playing, which makes me very satisfied."  

"The players' performance was impressive and that's really commendable because when you have high-level players, a lot of things go much more smoothly. They understood the tactics very quickly. Of course, we still have room for improvement."

Leicester City are buoyed by their successful summer friendly campaign and are gearing up for next weekend's Championship opener against Sheffield Wednesday at Filbert Road. Despite their impressive pre-season performances, manager Matí Cifuentes remains calm, aware of the intense competition in the Championship.  

Matí Cifuentes added: "There are bound to be ups and downs in this process. As for today, we are satisfied, but we all know that Championship games are very difficult and it is impossible to be perfect. As long as I see the team always maintain that determination and desire, and stick to the style and direction we want, I will be comforted."  

“Our aim is to lay the foundations in pre-season and then focus all our attention on the game against Sheffield Wednesday. I have played against them many times in the past two seasons, so I have some understanding of the team. But obviously, there are still many unknowns about what will happen in the game.”
