The Phoenix Suns announced Friday that Jordan Ott will replace Mike Budenholzer as head coach effective immediately. Per team policy, specific terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Suns reporter John Gambadoro has learned that Ott's term will last until 2029.

Jordan Ott, 40, has nearly 20 years of coaching experience, including 12 years of NBA coaching experience. He started as a video analyst for the Atlanta Hawks, and then worked as an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers. During this period, Ott served as the head coach of the NBA Summer League three times (2021, 2022, 2024), and led the rookie Candace team to the NBA All-Star Game in the 2024/25 season.

After completing the signing, Suns owner Matt Ishbia said: "Jordan embodies the culture of excellence and responsibility that we will prioritize. He is young, motivated, and ready to be an NBA head coach. He has excellent performance in training players, promoting team tacit understanding and understanding of the NBA, which are the important capabilities we need to build the team in the future."

Ott went on to add, “It is a dream come true for me to become the head coach of the Phoenix Suns and it is a great honor to be tasked with leading this organization. I would like to thank Matt Ishbia, Brian Gregory and Josh Bartelstein for this incredible opportunity. My goal is to create a culture at every level of the organization where the coaching staff, players and support staff give their all every day and produce performances that our fans will be proud of.”
