The 2024-25 NBA regular season ended, the Phoenix Suns missed the playoffs, and team owner Matt Ishbia admitted that this was an "embarrassing" season.
Although the Phoenix Suns had three All-Star players, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, they only achieved a record of 36 wins and 46 losses and failed to qualify for the playoffs. At the press conference, Ishbia said: "This season is a shame, right?"
"It's disappointing, it's terrible. No one is proud or happy about it, including myself, the management, the coaching staff, the players and even the staff. We lost, not just by the score, but also in attitude and spirit. This is a failure."
"I want everyone to see a team that they can be proud of. This team must have its own identity, like the spirit of Phoenix, with toughness, fighting spirit, professionalism, fighting spirit, and a little bit of happiness. And we didn't do any of these."
In order to rebuild the team for the next season, the Phoenix Suns immediately fired head coach Mike Budenholzer after the end of this season. This is the fourth head coach the team has replaced in four seasons. Next, the team needs to complete a key link, which is to select a new coach who can lead the team out of the quagmire.
When it comes to the selection of the new coach, Ishbia said: "We must find the right person this time. We can't make the mistake again. I will work harder than anyone else. I will build a coaching staff, management and players that the Phoenix community will be proud of."
