According to ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday, the Phoenix Suns are actively evaluating potential trades for Kevin Durant. Durant's agent and business partner Rich Kleiman has also been involved in the conversations, and the deal is expected to be completed around the time of this month's NBA draft.

"There has been substantial progress on the Kevin Durant trade. Some teams want to complete the deal as soon as possible," Charania said on ESPN's "NBA Today." "Can the deal be completed before the draft? Or will it be delayed until June 25 or 26, closer to the draft? Let's wait and see."

Suns reporter John Gambadoro further pointed out that Durant could be traded as early as next week. However, whether the deal can be reached still depends on whether Durant is willing to accept the contract extension.

Durant, 36, is about to enter the final year of his contract, with a salary of $53.28 million next season. Once traded by the Suns, Durant will be eligible to sign a two-year, $112 million contract extension on July 6. If he chooses to postpone the contract extension for half a year, he will be eligible for a new two-year, $124 million contract.

According to Charania, the Suns are currently focusing on potential trading partners including the Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks, Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. Several unnamed teams have also tried to inquire about Durant's price, and the Toronto Raptors are said to be one of them.

So far, Durant is most inclined to join the Spurs. However, due to factors such as age structure, tactical compatibility and the Suns' asking price, the Spurs' interest in him has gradually cooled. As for the Knicks, many local New York media believe that the team has not listed Durant as an actual signing target.

In contrast, the Heat's interest in Durant is more clear, but they have no intention of including Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro in the trade. Whether Durant is willing to join the Heat is still unknown.
