Frankfurt issued a statement on Tuesday announcing that it has extended its contract with Robin Koch until 2030. Koch's contract with Frankfurt was supposed to expire in June 2027.

There are also reports that Koch's annual salary will increase to 3.5 million euros after this contract renewal.

Regarding Koch's contract extension, Frankfurt sports director Markus Kroescher commented: "The negotiations were quite advanced because the contract extension was also a big decision for Robin. He feels very comfortable in Frankfurt and we are very happy that he has chosen to stay with the team."

He added: “We have managed to retain an absolutely key player and that in itself is a big sign. Robin is an integral part of Eintracht Frankfurt and has played a huge part in our success while helping to develop this young team.

"We have achieved many great things together and this has enabled him to return to the German national team. Frankfurt is the ideal place for him and he is exactly the player we need. Robin's contract extension is of great significance for the development of this young team."

Koch, 28, mainly plays as a central defender and made his first-team debut for Trier in Deding in September 2014. He then moved to Kaiserslautern, Freiburg and Leeds United, and will play for Frankfurt from July 2023.

So far, Koch has made 85 appearances for Frankfurt, scoring 7 goals and providing 4 assists.

After completing the contract extension, Koch said: "I often listen to my instincts, and this time it told me very early that the renewal was the right choice. In a very short time, I have realized that everything about Frankfurt is very special: the team, the spirit of unity, our home and the fans. I am very proud and happy to continue to be a part of it."

"Winning third place in the league last season was an unprecedented achievement for Frankfurt. Playing in the Champions League again next season means a lot to the club, the city and me personally. I hope we can continue to maintain our current performance in the next few years and become a strong competitor in various competitions. I also hope to play a role and take the lead.
