In the sixth round of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, Benfica defeated Napoli 2-0 at home. With this victory, they achieved two consecutive wins after four consecutive losses at the start of the season, and their ranking rose from 35th in the fourth round to 25th.

In their match against Napoli, Benfica dominated from the start. In the 11th minute, Frederic Orsnes delivered a brilliant backheel pass during a counter-attack, and Franjo Ivanovic's shot inside the box was saved by Vanya Milinkovic-Savic. Ivanovic then passed the ball to Orsnes on the left side of the box, whose curling shot went wide to the right. In the 18th minute, Milinkovic-Savic's pass was intercepted, and Orsnes's shot towards the bottom right corner of the goal narrowly missed.

In the 20th minute, Samuel Dahl delivered a cross from the edge of the penalty area, and Ivanovic headed the ball across for Richard Rios to tap in. With Rios opening the scoring, Benfica took a 1-0 lead over Napoli.

In the 29th minute, Noah Lang delivered a 45-degree cross from the left wing, and Giovanni Di Lorenzo's diving header went just wide. This was Napoli's most threatening attack in the first half, but they ultimately had to watch as Benfica went into halftime with a one-goal lead.

Just four minutes into the second half, Leonardo Spinazzola delivered a long diagonal pass from the right wing into the far corner of the penalty area, where Alessandro Buongiorno's header was comfortably saved by Anatoli Trubin. Benfica immediately launched a counter-attack, with Rios assisting Leandro Barreiro for a backheel goal, making the score 2-0.

In the 71st minute, David Neres cut inside from the right and unleashed a powerful shot, which Trubin tipped over the bar with one hand. Noah Lang then took a corner from the left, and Scott McTominay's header in the box went just wide. In the 84th minute, Barreiro's through ball found the onrushing Waglis Pavlidis, whose chip shot was brilliantly saved by the onrushing Milinkovic-Savic.

Neither side managed to score again. At the final whistle, Benfica won 2-0 at home.
