According to TA reporter Fred Katz on Tuesday, the Sacramento Kings will sign Dennis Schroder from the NBA free agent market. ESPN reporter Shams Charania added that the two sides have reached a three-year contract with a total value of $45 million.
Dennis Schroder, 31, is a guard and was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 17th pick in the first round in 2013. He has played for the Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors and other teams. He has played in 842 regular season games in his career so far, averaging 13.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 43.2% and a three-point shooting percentage of 34.2%.
Schroeder also played in 74 playoff games with the team, averaging 11.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 42.5% and a three-point shooting percentage of 33.7%.
In the 2024/25 season, Schroeder moved to the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors and Detroit Pistons in just one year. Despite this, he still maintained a stable performance in each team, averaging 13.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game, and finally advanced to the playoffs with the Pistons.
With the arrival of Schroder, the Kings' backcourt depth is expected to be further improved. Even with two starting guards, Malik Monk and Zach LaVine, the players still need an experienced substitute who can take care of both ball control and scoring.
