Ancelotti announces the first Brazilian squad: Casemiro, Anthony and others return, Neymar is not selected

On May 26 local time, Carlo Ancelotti announced the first Brazilian national team list during his tenure in Rio de Janeiro. Veterans such as Danilo, Casemiro, Richarlison and Anthony all returned, while Neymar, Rodrigo and Enderique were not selected.

Brazil will play two World Cup qualifiers on June 5 and 10, against Ecuador and Paraguay respectively. They are currently ranked fourth in the South American World Cup qualifiers standings, with a record of 6 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses, and 21 points.

At the press conference after the announcement of the list, Ancelotti explained Neymar's failure to be selected: "As I said, I tried to select players who are in good condition in this call-up. Neymar suffered an injury not long ago. Everyone knows his importance to the national team, which has been the case in the past and will remain the same in the future. Unfortunately, there are many players who have not been selected for the national team due to injuries, and Neymar is one of them."

"Brazil has many talented players, but we still have high hopes for Neymar. He is an indispensable member of the national team. He returned to Brazil to better prepare for the World Cup. I communicated with him this morning and explained the situation. He fully understood and expressed his support. We will continue to maintain close cooperation."

Talking about Casemiro, Ancelotti said: "In my opinion, he is a great player. I am lucky to work with him. I think the national team needs such a player with charm, personality and talent. Brazil has always been full of talents."

"In modern football, players also need attitude, commitment and sacrifice. Casemiro has exactly what I mean by that. So do many players who have been selected for the national team."

The following is the 25-man squad for the Brazilian national team:

Goalkeepers: Alisson (Liverpool), Bento (Alizarin Cavani), Hugo Sousa (Corinthians)

Defenders: Alex Sandro (Flamengo), Alessandro Ribeiro (Lille), Lucas Berardo (PSG), Carlos Augusto (Inter Milan), Danilo (Flamengo), Leo Ortiz (Flamengo), Van Dersen (Monaco), Wesley Lima (Flamengo), Marquinhos (PSG)

Midfielders: Andreas Pereira (Fulham), Andre Santos (Strasbourg), Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle), Casemiro (Manchester United), Ederson (Atalanta), Gerson (Flamengo)

Forwards: Esteban (Palmeiras), Antonio (Real Betis), Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal), Mateus Cunha (Wolves), Rafinha (Barcelona), Richarlison (Tottenham Hotspur), Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid)
