On May 26 local time, Carlo Ancelotti announced the first Brazilian national team list during his tenure in Rio de Janeiro. Veterans such as Danilo, Casemiro, Richarlison and Anthony all returned, while Neymar, Rodrigo and Enderique were not selected.

Brazil will play two World Cup qualifiers on June 5 and 10, against Ecuador and Paraguay respectively. They are currently ranked fourth in the South American World Cup qualifiers standings, with a record of 6 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses, and 21 points.

At the press conference after the announcement of the list, Ancelotti explained Neymar's failure to be selected: "As I said, I tried to select players who are in good condition in this call-up. Neymar suffered an injury not long ago. Everyone knows his importance to the national team, which has been the case in the past and will remain the same in the future. Unfortunately, there are many players who have not been selected for the national team due to injuries, and Neymar is one of them."
