Brighton sign veteran James Milner to one-year contract extension

James Milner, veteran midfielder of Premier League club Brighton, has officially renewed his contract for one year and will continue to play in the Premier League.
The 39-year-old English player joined Brighton in 2023 and has played 24 games for the team so far. Although he only played four times last season due to injury, he came on as a substitute in the last round of the season and helped the team beat Tottenham 4-1 and locked in the eighth place in the Premier League.
Milner's career is a legend in English football. Since his debut at Leeds United in 2001, he has played 638 games in the Premier League, second only to Gareth Barry (653 games). He has played for Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool, with great achievements.
During his time at Liverpool, Milner won seven major trophies with the team, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, European Super Cup and Club World Cup. During his time at Manchester City, Milner won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and two Community Shields, a total of five honors. During his time at Newcastle United, he also helped the team win two UEFA Intertoto Cup titles.
Regarding Milner's joining, Brighton coach Fabian Schurzeller said: "I am very happy that James continues to stay. Although he was limited by injuries last season, his leadership and experience in the locker room are extremely valuable to young players. He is the backbone of our team and I am very much looking forward to working with him again."
