Curry bluntly said that NBA players' salaries are still too low: We should participate in the team's equity dividends

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry recently expressed his views on the salary structure of NBA players in an interview with the media, which sparked heated debate.

Curry believes that although the annual salary of the NBA's top-paid players has reached tens of millions of dollars, from the perspective of overall revenue and value growth, the players are still underestimated and even underpaid.

In the interview, Curry said: "We are actually in a cooperative relationship with the league and team owners, but we cannot share in the value growth. Under the current labor agreement (CBA), active players are prohibited from holding team shares, and this is the biggest injustice."

Although some top players will earn $75 million a year in the future, this is just the tip of the iceberg compared to the explosive growth of the league's market value. Take Curry's Warriors as an example. The valuation was only $168 million in 2000, and now it has soared to nearly $8.8 billion, most of which is closely related to the exposure and performance brought by the players.

"We want to be part of that increase in value, not just wages. If we're the ones filling arenas and driving global impact, we should have a certain percentage of equity returns," Curry added.

According to current regulations, active NBA players cannot own team shares, even through investment. This restriction also makes Curry hope that relevant changes can be promoted in future labor negotiations to give players more participation rights.

The current NBA labor agreement will last until the 2029-30 season, but the two sides can choose to renegotiate in advance in the 2028-29 season. Curry's remarks are seen as a precursor to the players' union's possible push for equity reform.
