The Charlotte Hornets officially announced on Wednesday that they will retire Dell Curry's No. 30 jersey during their home game against the Orlando Magic on March 19. Dell Curry will become the second player in Hornets history to have his jersey retired. The first was the late swingman Bobby Fields (No. 13).

Dell Curry, 61, is widely recognized as one of the NBA's top shooters and the father of current stars Stephen Curry and Seth Curry. During his 16-year NBA career, Dell Curry played 10 seasons with the Charlotte Hornets.

As the Hornets' greatest sixth man in franchise history, Dell Curry played 701 regular season games, averaging 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals in 25.1 minutes per game, with a 46.2% field goal percentage, 40.5% three-point percentage, and 82.5% free throw percentage. He won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award in 1994. He still ranks highly on several Hornets franchise records, including games played (first), seasons played (first), total points (second), field goals made (second), three-pointers made (second), steals (fourth), and free throws made (eighth).

In 2002, Dell Curry officially announced his retirement. He then returned to the Hornets as a television commentator and ambassador, and continues to contribute to the team and the Charlotte community to this day.

We look forward to witnessing this special moment with Hornets fans and to permanently hanging his number 30 jersey in the rafters of the Spectrum Center.”
