David Moyes admitted that the loss was mainly due to the team's own shortcomings, as they clearly didn't capitalize on their scoring opportunities.

David Moyer admitted that Everton's 1-2 defeat to Bournemouth at Hill Dickinson Stadium was their own fault. Iliman Ndiaye's calm penalty in the first half gave the home side the lead at halftime, briefly putting them on track to extend their unbeaten run to five games.

However, at the start of the second half, Everton squandered two golden opportunities to extend their lead, before the game entered a nightmarish eight minutes. Just as Everton had demonstrated three days earlier against Fulham, Bournemouth completed the comeback with consecutive headers from Le Young and Armin Adli. Then, Jack O'Brien was shown a straight red card for denying a clear scoring chance, completely turning the tide in the away team's favor.

After the match, David Moyes said in an interview: "I really have nothing to say, I'm very disappointed. This should have been a game we had a chance to win, at least it looked like it on the pitch. There was some chaos in the game, but what's hardest for me to accept is that we conceded two goals that we should never have conceded. At the same time, we wasted two or three good scoring opportunities ourselves, so this loss is entirely our own fault."

“I think we started the second half well after halftime. But if we can’t convert our chances into goals, then it’s all meaningless, and we clearly haven’t done enough in terms of scoring.”

Despite being outnumbered, Everton continued their relentless attack in the final stages of the match. David Moyes, speaking about the players' mentality, said: "The players have performed exceptionally well here, both in terms of their league results and their performance on the pitch, so mentally we have absolutely nothing to complain about."
