David Weir has officially been appointed as Strasbourg's sporting director, having previously worked at Brighton for seven years.

Strasbourg officially announced on Friday the appointment of David Weir as sporting director. Details regarding his term of office and other related matters have not yet been released by the club.

David Weir, 55, is a former Scottish international who made over 600 appearances for Falkirk, Hearts, Everton, and Rangers during his playing career. He has been working in management since 2012, having played for Everton, Sheffield United, Brentford, Rangers, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest.

Before joining Strasbourg, Will had worked for Brighton for seven years. He initially handled loan matters, then rose to assistant technical director, and finally briefly served as technical director.

Regarding the appointment, Strasbourg President Marc Keller explained: “I am delighted with the arrival of David Weir, which continues our efforts to strengthen the club’s sporting structure. He is a highly respected professional who will bring a high level of valuable experience and expertise. His experience and abilities will greatly contribute to Strasbourg’s sporting development and provide strong support to Liam Rosenil and his coaching team.”
