Former Bayern Munich and Germany legendary international midfielder Thomas Müller joins Vancouver Whitecaps on a free transfer..


The Vancouver Whitecaps announced on their official website on Wednesday that former Bayern Munich and Germany legendary international midfielder Thomas Müller, has joined the club as a free agent after his contract had expired.


According to the Major League Soccer (MLS) club's official statement, Müller has signed on short-term six-month deal which will only run until the winter of 2025, with the option to extend for another year.


Müller will also wear the iconic No. 13 jersey of his predecessor, former Bayern Munich and Germany national team legendary captain Michael Ballack. Müller will occupy one of the club's Designated Player (DP) slots.


Notably, Müller becomes the second major player to join an MLS club, following South Korea national team captain Son Heung-min.


About Thomas Müller


Thomas Müller, 35, was born on September 13, 1989, in Weilheim, Bavaria, Germany. He is 1.86 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a center forward or right winger. 


Müller joined the youth academy of non-league club Pähl at the age of four and joined Bayern Munich's youth academy at the age of ten. He began playing for Bayern's reserve team in March 2008 and completed his Bayern Munich first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in a Bundesliga match against Hamburg in August of the same year.


During his 25-year spell at Bayern, Müller played 756 times for Die Roten in all competitions, scoring 250 times and assisting 276 times. During which he won 13 Bundesliga titles, eight DFL-Super Cups, six DFB-Pokal titles, two Champions Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups, and two Club World Cups. He is Bayern's all-time leading appearance and third all-time top goalscorer.
