Gabriel: We believe the team has the ability to win major titles

Arsenal defender Gabriel recently spoke about the challenges facing the team and the goals for the new season in an interview, and insisted that he and his teammates believe the team can win important championships.

In the 2024/25 Premier League season, Arsenal suffered injuries to Saka, Odegaard, Havertz and Jesus at a critical stage, and Gabriel was also injured for a long time, which resulted in Arteta's team being unable to effectively narrow the lead of title rivals Liverpool in the standings.

In the end, Arsenal finished second with 20 wins, 14 draws and 4 losses, and this is the third consecutive season that Arsenal has finished second and has been unable to win the Premier League championship.

Looking back at the past few years' achievements, the 27-year-old Gabriel said: "I think we certainly can't make excuses. We have tried our best in the past three years. But I think we have been unlucky at times, but we all believe that we have the ability to win big championships. We have to focus on the coach's arrangement, focus on what we want to accomplish and what needs to be improved, and I think this year will be different."

Arsenal signed several new players earlier, including Kepa, Nergaard, Martin Zubermendi and Maduek.

Gabriel said, "These new players will be of great help to us. The club is doing the best thing for the team and the coach. They are doing their best to introduce players who can really help us, and we must also focus on the performance on the field."

"The players we have now are doing very well, we are strong and will become even stronger with these new players. I am certainly excited because if we want to compete for the title we have to have the best players."

Gabriel, who renewed his contract with Arsenal in June, added: "I have been at this club for five years and have witnessed the club's growth. I stayed here to win big titles and I really believe that this new season will be different because we have let a few titles slip through our fingers recently."

"We were very close to achieving our goal, but I think this new season will be different and I am confident of that."

On the other hand, Arsenal, who have already travelled to Singapore, will face AC Milan in a friendly match and then Newcastle.
