According to Kicker, Sky Sports Germany and other media reports, Eric ten Hag is a strong contender for the head coaching position of Leverkusen.
Eric ten Hag, 55, has coached Go Ahead Eagles, Bayern Munich II, Utrecht, Ajax and Manchester United, during which he led his team to win three Eredivisie titles, two Dutch Cups, one Dutch Super Cup, one FA Cup and one English League Cup. He has been unemployed since being fired by Manchester United in October 2024 and has said he will not return to coaching before July 1.
German Sky Sports further pointed out that Leverkusen has not yet started substantive negotiations with Ten Hag on coaching matters. They are waiting for Xabi Alonso's final decision and have collected detailed information on several candidates including Ten Hag and Imanol Alguacil.
